Top-rated independent heating and cooling across Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast

Smart Thermostat Installation

We install smart thermostats on residential heating and cooling systems across Florida, wiring them to your existing air handler and outdoor unit and confirming the system stages correctly before we leave. Homeowners usually call when an old dial or basic digital control has stopped holding a setpoint, when a new thermostat needs a common wire the house does not have, or when a system runs constantly in humid weather. Call us with your system type and thermostat model and we will book a visit and confirm compatibility first.

What the job involves

We start at the equipment, not the wall. A smart thermostat is only as good as the wiring behind it, so we check what conductors run between the air handler and the thermostat location, confirm whether a common wire exists, and look at how your system is staged. Then we mount and level the new control, land the wires, set the configuration for your equipment, and run the system through cooling and heat to be sure every call responds the way it should.

What we check and install

We check thermostat wire count and condition, transformer capacity, control board terminals, and whether a heat pump uses reversing valve logic on O or B. In coastal homes we also look for corrosion at the outdoor unit contactor and low voltage terminals, because a corroded connection makes a new thermostat look faulty when it is not. We install the control, set fan and cycle behaviour, connect it to your home network, and show you how scheduling and remote access work.

How we decide it is the right call

A smart thermostat is worth installing when the equipment underneath it is sound. If your air conditioner runs nearly nonstop through the afternoon, the cause is usually airflow, refrigerant charge, or a tired compressor, and a new control will not shorten the runtime. We say so plainly. When the system is healthy and the current thermostat is inaccurate, unstaged, or missing humidity control, the upgrade earns its place. We will also tell you if your wiring needs work before any smart control goes on the wall.

Smart Thermostat Installation — quick answers

Does my house need a common wire for a smart thermostat?

Most smart thermostats need constant 24 volt power from a common wire. If your wall has only four conductors, we check for a spare in the bundle, or we look at adapter options at the air handler before installing.

Will a smart thermostat work with a heat pump?

Yes, provided we configure it correctly. Heat pumps need the reversing valve and auxiliary heat terminals set properly, and we test both cooling and heating calls at the equipment before finishing the visit.

Can a smart thermostat control humidity?

Some models can request longer cooling cycles to pull moisture down, which helps in Florida summers. It depends on your equipment and wiring. We will tell you what your system can actually do before you buy.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form with what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, ice on the lineset, a humming outdoor unit. That detail helps us load the right parts before we drive out.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

We check the thermostat, the air handler, the condenser and the electrical side, then measure what the system is actually doing. You get a plain explanation of the fault and the repair options before we start.

  3. Step 3

    We repair and verify

Once the repair is done we run the system and confirm temperature split, drainage and airflow at the vents. If a part is on order, we tell you the timeline instead of leaving you guessing.

Why homeowners call us

  • We plan for salt airCoastal humidity and salt eat coils, contactors and cabinet screws. We look for corrosion during every visit and treat it as part of the diagnosis, not an afterthought, so a repaired system does not fail again in the same spot.
  • Built for constant runtimeFlorida systems run most of the year, so bearings, capacitors and drain lines wear faster than the manual suggests. We size repairs around that reality and point out the components likely to be next in line.
  • Old houses and new onesIsland properties often hide ductwork in tight, damp spaces, while tract homes tend to have short, undersized returns. We have worked both and adjust the approach rather than forcing one standard fix.
  • Clear talk, no upsell theatreWe tell you what failed, what it takes to fix it, and whether repair or replacement makes more sense for the age of the equipment. If a repair will hold, we say so and get on with it.

  • Straight answersWhen a replacement beats a repair, we tell you, sometimes before we roll a truck.
