Electric Furnace Repair

We repair electric furnaces in homes across Florida, from heat strips that no longer warm the air to sequencers, contactors and limit switches that have quit. You need this call when the heat blows cool, trips the breaker, cycles on and off in short bursts, or smells hot the first time you run it after a long humid summer. Check the thermostat setting and batteries, look for a tripped breaker, and change a loaded filter. If that does not fix it, call us and describe what the system is doing.

What an electric furnace repair involves

Electric heat is simple in theory and fussy in practice. Resistance elements draw heavy current, and a sequencer brings them on in stages so the load lands gently. When one stage fails you still get airflow, just cool airflow, and the system runs far longer trying to reach the setpoint. We start at the thermostat call, follow it through the control board to the sequencer, then measure amp draw on each element. That tells us which stage is dead and whether the wiring feeding it took damage.

What we check and what we replace

We check heat strip elements for open circuits, sequencers for stuck or lazy contacts, limit switches that have tripped from restricted airflow, and the blower motor and capacitor that keep air moving over the elements. Terminals and connectors get a close look, because salt air and years of humidity leave corrosion that heats up under load. We also check filter condition and duct restriction, since a starved blower is the usual reason a limit keeps cutting the heat off mid cycle.

How we decide repair is the right call

If the cabinet and blower are sound and the failure is one element, a sequencer or a control board, repair makes sense and the system goes back to normal service. We steer you toward replacement when the wiring and terminal blocks are corroded through, when several elements have failed in the same season, or when the air handler shares a failing outdoor unit that is due anyway. We tell you what we measured and what we saw, then you decide. No pressure either way.

Electric Furnace Repair — quick answers

Why does my electric furnace blow air that never gets warm?

Usually a failed heat strip element or a sequencer that is not closing. Airflow continues because the blower runs on a separate circuit. We measure current on each stage to find which one stopped.

Why does the heat trip my breaker?

Electric heat pulls heavy current, so a shorted element, a corroded connection or an undersized or aging breaker can trip it. Do not keep resetting it repeatedly. Call us and we will test the load.

Why does it smell hot the first time I run heat?

Dust burning off the elements after months idle is common and fades within a cycle or two. A sharp burning smell that lingers means you should shut the system off at the thermostat and call us.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form with what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, ice on the lineset, a humming outdoor unit. That detail helps us load the right parts before we drive out.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

We check the thermostat, the air handler, the condenser and the electrical side, then measure what the system is actually doing. You get a plain explanation of the fault and the repair options before we start.

  3. Step 3

    We repair and verify

Once the repair is done we run the system and confirm temperature split, drainage and airflow at the vents. If a part is on order, we tell you the timeline instead of leaving you guessing.

Why homeowners call us

  • We plan for salt airCoastal humidity and salt eat coils, contactors and cabinet screws. We look for corrosion during every visit and treat it as part of the diagnosis, not an afterthought, so a repaired system does not fail again in the same spot.
  • Built for constant runtimeFlorida systems run most of the year, so bearings, capacitors and drain lines wear faster than the manual suggests. We size repairs around that reality and point out the components likely to be next in line.
  • Old houses and new onesIsland properties often hide ductwork in tight, damp spaces, while tract homes tend to have short, undersized returns. We have worked both and adjust the approach rather than forcing one standard fix.
  • Clear talk, no upsell theatreWe tell you what failed, what it takes to fix it, and whether repair or replacement makes more sense for the age of the equipment. If a repair will hold, we say so and get on with it.
  • All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, York and the rest.
  • Straight answersWhen a replacement beats a repair, we tell you, sometimes before we roll a truck.
