Whole-Home Dehumidifiers

We install and service whole-home dehumidifiers that tie into your existing HVAC ductwork, for homeowners across Florida and the wider region we cover. If your house feels clammy at 74 degrees, if you see condensation on vents, musty smells in closets, or mildew on baseboards, the air is holding more moisture than your air conditioner alone can pull out. Call us and we will measure the humidity in a few rooms, look at how long your system actually runs, and tell you whether a dedicated dehumidifier is the fix.

What the job involves

A whole-home dehumidifier is a separate unit that shares your duct system. We find a spot for it, usually in a mechanical closet, garage or attic platform, then run supply and return duct connections, a condensate drain line, and a power circuit. The control gets wired so the unit can call for air handler airflow when it needs to dry the house. Most installs take a day. We check the drain routing carefully, because a slow drain in this climate turns into a stained ceiling.

What we check or install

Before we quote anything we take humidity readings in several rooms, look at your return air, and check your existing coil and drain pan for standing water or biological growth. We inspect duct joints in the attic, since leaky returns pull in hot damp air all day. We confirm the outdoor unit is clear and the filter is not choking airflow. If the AC is oversized and short cycling, we say so, because that is often the real reason the house feels wet.

How we decide it is the right call

If indoor humidity sits above the mid 50s while the thermostat is satisfied, a dehumidifier usually earns its keep. Constant runtime is the other tell. Systems in our region run nearly year round, and coastal salt air corrodes coils and cabinets, so we also weigh the age and condition of what you have. Sometimes sealing return ducts or repairing a failing coil solves it for less. We will tell you which one you are looking at before you spend money.

Whole-Home Dehumidifiers — quick answers

Will a whole-home dehumidifier replace my air conditioner?

No. It works alongside your air conditioning, removing moisture the AC cannot keep up with. Your system still handles temperature. The two are controlled together so the house stays both cool and dry.

Where does the water go?

Into a condensate drain line we route to an existing drain, a condensate pump, or outside, depending on your home. We size and slope that line during install, then check it on maintenance visits so it does not clog.

Do portable units do the same thing?

A portable dries one room and needs emptying. A ducted unit conditions the whole house through your existing vents and drains on its own. If humidity problems show up in several rooms, ducted is the practical choice.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form with what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, ice on the lineset, a humming outdoor unit. That detail helps us load the right parts before we drive out.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

We check the thermostat, the air handler, the condenser and the electrical side, then measure what the system is actually doing. You get a plain explanation of the fault and the repair options before we start.

  3. Step 3

    We repair and verify

Once the repair is done we run the system and confirm temperature split, drainage and airflow at the vents. If a part is on order, we tell you the timeline instead of leaving you guessing.

Why homeowners call us

  • We plan for salt airCoastal humidity and salt eat coils, contactors and cabinet screws. We look for corrosion during every visit and treat it as part of the diagnosis, not an afterthought, so a repaired system does not fail again in the same spot.
  • Built for constant runtimeFlorida systems run most of the year, so bearings, capacitors and drain lines wear faster than the manual suggests. We size repairs around that reality and point out the components likely to be next in line.
  • Old houses and new onesIsland properties often hide ductwork in tight, damp spaces, while tract homes tend to have short, undersized returns. We have worked both and adjust the approach rather than forcing one standard fix.
  • Clear talk, no upsell theatreWe tell you what failed, what it takes to fix it, and whether repair or replacement makes more sense for the age of the equipment. If a repair will hold, we say so and get on with it.

  • Straight answersWhen a replacement beats a repair, we tell you, sometimes before we roll a truck.
