What warm air from a running system actually tells us
Warm air with the blower running means the indoor fan is working but the cooling side is not, or the cold air is being lost before it reaches you. That splits the problem into two halves. Either the outdoor unit is not removing heat, which covers power, controls, refrigerant charge and compressor trouble, or the air is being handled badly indoors through a dirty coil, restricted filter, iced evaporator or leaking duct in a hot attic. Across Florida we see both, often together, because systems here run nearly year round and salt air eats at outdoor components. Knowing which half you are in decides everything that follows. If the blower is not running either, that is a different path and usually points to control power.
Cause one: settings, power and airflow, the cheap stuff
Start with the free items because they are common. A thermostat bumped to fan-only or heat will push room air through the vents all day. Dead thermostat batteries can leave a display on while the call for cooling never goes out. A tripped breaker on the outdoor unit leaves the indoor blower happily running with no cooling behind it. And a filter packed solid restricts airflow enough to freeze the indoor coil, which then blocks air completely and sends lukewarm air out until it thaws. We also look at return grilles blocked by furniture and supply vents closed off in spare rooms. None of that requires tools, and it resolves a fair share of air conditioning repair calls before they become repairs.
Cause two: refrigerant charge and a leaking system
If the basics check out, low refrigerant charge is the next family. A system that is short on charge cools weakly, then not at all, and often frosts the line at the indoor coil. Refrigerant does not get used up. If it is low, there is a leak, and in coastal and humid parts of the region those leaks frequently start as corrosion pinholes in coil tubing or at flare fittings on the line set. This is not homeowner territory. Refrigerant is under pressure and handling it requires recovery equipment. We locate the leak, weigh in charge to the manufacturer's spec and tell you plainly whether a repair or a coil replacement makes better sense for the age of the unit.
Cause three: the outdoor unit and its electrical parts
When the outdoor fan sits still or hums, or the compressor tries and clicks off, we are into contactors, capacitors, relays and wiring. Constant runtime wears these parts out faster here than in cooler states, and salt air corrodes contactor points and terminal connections until they stop passing current cleanly. A failed run capacitor is a very common cause of an outdoor unit that buzzes without starting. Those components sit at line voltage and capacitors hold a charge after the power is off. Please do not open that panel. What you can do is clear grass clippings, leaves and shrubs back from the cabinet so the unit can breathe, and tell us what you heard it doing.
What a technician does differently on an AC repair call
We measure instead of guessing. That means checking the temperature drop between return and supply air, reading suction and liquid pressures against the outdoor temperature, testing capacitor microfarads, checking amp draw on the compressor and fan motors, and inspecting the evaporator and condenser coils for the fouling and corrosion that quietly ruin capacity. We look at duct connections in the attic, because insulated flex that has pulled loose dumps your cold air above the ceiling. The goal is to name the failed part, not swap parts hopefully. If you want AC repair handled properly, call Palm Beach AC Services, describe what the unit is doing and leave the system off if the indoor coil is iced up.

Air Conditioner Blowing Warm — common questions
Why is my AC blowing warm air only at night?
Often a marginal charge or a dirty condenser that just keeps up in mild conditions and falls behind under load, or an oversized latent load. It can also be a thermostat schedule change. We measure the temperature split to tell which.
Should I turn the system off if it is blowing warm air?
Yes, especially if you see ice or frost on the refrigerant lines or indoor coil. Switch cooling off, leave the fan on to thaw, change the filter and call us for air conditioner repair before running it again.
Can a dirty filter really stop cooling completely?
It can. A restricted filter starves the indoor coil of airflow, the coil freezes, and once it is a block of ice almost no air moves through. Replace the filter, let it thaw fully, then see if cooling returns.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill in the quote form with what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, ice on the lineset, a humming outdoor unit. That detail helps us load the right parts before we drive out.
- Step 2
We diagnose on site
We check the thermostat, the air handler, the condenser and the electrical side, then measure what the system is actually doing. You get a plain explanation of the fault and the repair options before we start.
- Step 3
We repair and verify
Once the repair is done we run the system and confirm temperature split, drainage and airflow at the vents. If a part is on order, we tell you the timeline instead of leaving you guessing.

Why homeowners call us
- We plan for salt airCoastal humidity and salt eat coils, contactors and cabinet screws. We look for corrosion during every visit and treat it as part of the diagnosis, not an afterthought, so a repaired system does not fail again in the same spot.
- Built for constant runtimeFlorida systems run most of the year, so bearings, capacitors and drain lines wear faster than the manual suggests. We size repairs around that reality and point out the components likely to be next in line.
- Old houses and new onesIsland properties often hide ductwork in tight, damp spaces, while tract homes tend to have short, undersized returns. We have worked both and adjust the approach rather than forcing one standard fix.
- Clear talk, no upsell theatreWe tell you what failed, what it takes to fix it, and whether repair or replacement makes more sense for the age of the equipment. If a repair will hold, we say so and get on with it.
- All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, York and the rest.
- Straight answersWhen a replacement beats a repair, we tell you, sometimes before we roll a truck.
